The Traffic and Mobility Plan of the Capital Region focuses on 5 strategic development themes.

Traffic and mobility plan for the Capital Region of Denmark

Improved mobility for all inhabitants and commuters from neighbouring regions – that is the aim for the Capital Region with the Traffic and mobility plan

Coherent plan for future mobility

Due to a significant growth in the population and workplaces in the Capital Region of Denmark, the transport network should be able to handle at least 20% more trips in 2035. This puts pressure on the entire transport system. Therefore, a Traffic and Mobility plan for the Capital Region has been made to create a common platform for the municipalities and the region.
The plan provides an overview and an understanding of the transport challenges in the Capital Region. Through analysis and debate with key players the plan identifies strategic development themes and initiatives to address increasing congestion and create a coherent transport system.

Strategic development themes

With the Traffic and Mobility Plan, the Capital Region focuses on 5 strategic development themes to create a coherent, reliable, effective and green mobility system before 2035. This will be achieved through a widespread combination of different transportation initiatives where shared mobility, public transport and more bicycle commuters play a key role.

The plan includes the following strategic development themes:
  • Future public transport is the first choice for commuters
  • Attractive shared mobility
  • More bicycle commuters
  • Mobility hubs that support interconnectivity
  • User-centric traffic information and mobility services
The plan forms the basis for establishing partnerships along with both private og public stakeholders with the goal of taking actions on 13 initiatives in the plan. The aim is to contribute to creating better framework for a coherent everyday life without unnecessary waste of time in daily transport and contribute to a green transition of transportation.

Bette mobility for the regions’ citizens will also create better access to education, healthcare and hospitals and leisure activities.

Stakeholders who can and will contribute to the development of the mobility in the Capital Region are very welcome to engage in a dialogue with us.
